Prunella vulgaris - Also known as all-heal

A semi evergreen, hardy perennial that is easy to establish. Low growing, creeping plant that blooms in a mixture of dark purple and fuchsia coloured hues. Perfect for a meadow garden. Self-seeding so it will spread easily if sown once.

Apart from it’s beauty, it’s a great plant to have around for the butterflies and the bees. Suitable as ground-cover, verge cover or as wildflower lawn. As the name suggests, a great all-round medicinal to have on hand. Flowers, stems and leaves edible. Can be made into tinctures or tea infusions. Or simply sown for its beauty and for its part in promoting biodiversity in your garden.

Gathered in the wilds of Irelands’ West, by a nest of wild raspberries along the woodland paths.

Garden Idea: Grown as part of a wildflower lawn alongside Roman chamomile, plantains and red, white and crimson clovers would be sure to draw the fairies in and around your home and make it a dream sight to behold. Or grown along woodland edges and pathway verges not too far in the shade.
